Welcome to the GONIL area Cache of the Month contest.
Please remember that first and foremost, this is for
fun. There are no prizes of monetary value, there are no losers. The honor of being nominated (or selected as the COTM) by your fellow geocachers is about all you'll receive. OK, there is a small tolken that will be awarded to each monthly winner: a graphic of a ribbon that you can proudly display on your cache page.
Again, remember this is for
fun. Please, no wagering.
So...how will this work?
1. Nominations will be accepted for the given month between the 1st and the 20th of the Month. Any Traditional, Multi, Mystery/Puzzle, Virtual or Earth Cache is eligible for nomination. The only stipulations are that the cache must be located within the 9 County GONIL area and have been found by the member making the nomination. Nominations must be posted by midnight of the 20th to be eligible.
2. Nominations are encouraged to be written as a spoiler-free description of what makes the cache special and worthy of such a title. Photos can be submitted with nominations. If one chooses to nominate a “Series”, the nomination should be for the Final of said series and all parts of the series can be discussed in the description.
3. We encourage anyone who has found a nominated cache (regardless of when it was found) to share their experience on the nomination thread to allow the members a better idea of what the cache is about.
4. On the 22nd the nominations will be posted in a new thread as a poll so that everyone can vote for their choice.
5. This contest (nominations and voting) will be open to all GONIL Members and GONIL Voting Members.
6. Voting will end on midnight on the 29th and the winner will be posted as the XXXX cache of the Month on the front page of gonil.org on the 1st day of the following month.
7. Members only caches may be nominated, but do so at your own risk -- non-Premium Members of geocaching.com may not wish to vote for a cache that they will never visit.
8. Nominated caches must be available for visiting at the time of nomination. Nominations for caches "temporarily unavailable" or archived caches will be rejected.
9. You can not nominate your own cache.
10. You can only nominate 1 cache per month
11. Duplicate nominations will be combined into one nomination with both submitters’ articles included.
12. The GONIL board, the COTM Committee and/or the site webmasters reserve the right to reject nominations based on content. We also reserve the right to alter the text of the nomination for spelling, grammar and punctuation.
13. These rules/guidelines are subject to change.
